December 6 – Is it terrorists day? Earlier, Indians do not know what is December 6. In fact, most of them even do not know that it is on 6 December 1956 Dr. B. R. Ambedkar died.
However, suddenly, it is celebrated as “Ambedkar"s remembrance day". Very good in deed. However, again, slowly, it is forgotten or rather suppressed by another celebration i.e, the “Black day"! But, now when December 6 comes, some sort uneasiness prevails in Every channel, here in Tamilnadu announces in the headlines that tomorrow / today the Babri-masjid demolition days is celebrated, commemorated, followed, remembered, observed, venerated and so on! Security is beefed up at railway stations, bus-stations, temples and so on. The passengers and their baggages at railway and bus-stations are frisked away, checked thoroughly with metal detectors, by police men and women. In fact, many feel embarrassed, put into awkward position, the way in which they check and treat the passengers, commuters and others. They strongly feel – “Had they checked earlier like this, so many bomb blasts could have been avoided”
“They check us only like this, but leave the actual terrorists”!
“Do they expect that terrorists would just come like that bringing bombs straight to the checking security personnel?”
“They know that they are checking and definitely they could go in another route or would have gone in different way”. Why then this type of embarrassing, awkward and upsetting ckecking is done? During the last Varanasi-Patna blasts, it was reported that the TV-channel office got e-mail intimation from the terrorist 10 minutes before the blasts!

Avoid cow slaughter on Eid-ul-Azha: Deoband to Muslims

NEW DELHI: Leading Islamic seminary Dar-ul-Uloom has suggested to Muslims in the country that they avoid slaughtering cows on Eid-ul-Azha as a mark of respect to the religious beliefs of Hindus.
The appeal has been supported by the All India Organisation of Imams of Mosques (AIOIM), which had earlier asked Muslims to put black ribbons on their shoulders as a symbol of their solidarity and grief for the victims of the Mumbai terror attacks.
In a booklet detailing the concept of ‘qurbani’ or sacrifice on the occasion of Bakri-Eid, brought out by Deoband-based Dar-ul-Uloom, the seminary has advised Muslims to refrain from sacrificing cows to avoid hurting sentiments of the Hindus.
“They (Muslims) may slaughter other animals that are approved by the Shariah,” the booklet said, asking Muslims to respect the sentiments of other Indians.
Established in 1866, Dar-ul-Uloom is the most respected school of Islamic teaching in the subcontinent.
AIOIM President Hazrat Moulana Jameel Ahmed Ilyasi said slaughtering cows hurts the sentiments of Hindus and “we should not do anything that will disturb communal harmony in the country”.
Ilyasi also asked Imams all around the country to pray for the victims of the Mumbai terror attacks during Eid prayers and express solidarity with Mumbaikars.
“They should pray to the Almighty during Eid prayers for restoring peace in the country,” Ilyasi said

US confirms Pakistan role in Mumbai attacks

NEW DELHI: The United States has confirmed to India that Pakistan’s military and intelligence chiefs have effectively admitted that the terrorists involved in last weeks terror attacks in Mumbai were Pakistani nationals and members of terrorist outfit the Lashkar-e-Taiba, according to a Times Now report. ( Watch )
Chairman of US joint chiefs of staff admiral Michael Mullen made the revelations to national security advisor MK Narayanan and defence minister AK Antony.
Mullen told Indian government officials that he had told Pakistan that the US had evidence that the terrorists involved in the Mumbai attacks were Pakistani nationals and members of LeT.
Earlier, Mullen had asked Pakistan’s top leadership to “investigate aggressively any and all possible ties to groups based in Pakistan”, the US embassy said in a statement.
While taking note of the recent success of Pakistani security forces in operations against militants on the Afghan border, Mullen “also encouraged Pakistani leaders to take more and more concerted action against militant extremists elsewhere in the country”, the statement said.
India has blamed Pakistan-based elements, including the outlawed Lashker-e-Taiba terror group, for carrying out the attacks and asked Pakistani authorities to act against them.
President Zardari has denied Pakistan’s involvement in the attacks and called on India to furnish evidence to substantiate its accusations.
Pakistani media reported that Zardari and other leaders told Mullen that Pakistan is not involved in any way in the Mumbai attacks. Pakistan is ready to cooperate in the probe into the attacks provided India shares evidence with it, they said.
The US is concerned about the impact of tensions on the war on terror as Pakistan has threatened to divert troops from the Afghan border to the frontier with India if the situation worsens.
Pakistan is a key supply route for US troops in Afghanistan. American officials also fear that the diversion of troops from the Afghan border could fuel cross-border raids by the Pakistani Taliban.
